TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Shahrdari Sirjan edged Uzbekistan’s FC Bunyodkor 2-1 in its AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 opener at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium, Jordan on Sunday.

Roghayeh Jalal Nasab gave Shahrdari Sirjan a first half lead before Zahra Alizadeh’s delightful lob made it 2-0 with Bunyodkor’s Dildora Nozimova scoring a late consolation.

Shahrdari Sirjan will face India’s Gokulam Kerala next on Wednesday, while Bunyodkor meet Amman Club of Jordan.

The Iranian team will play Amman SC on Saturday.

The AFC Women's Club Championship, also known as the FIFA–AFC Pilot Women's Club Championship, is an international women's football competition. It involves the top clubs from the countries affiliated with the AFC.

The concept of an Asian women's club competition was recommended in 2018. This was held as a round-robin tournament in November 2019, with only four teams taking part: the respective domestic league champions of Australia, China, Japan and South Korea.
