Iran Asks ECO to Ease Interaction among Members
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The President of Iran called on the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to remove the obstacles to trade exchanges among its member states and formulate plans to exploit their great potentials for development and prosperity.
In a meeting with ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri, held in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged the organization to devise plans to boost cooperation among its member states and remove the obstacles to their collaboration.
“Every member of the ECO has ample economic capacities in various fields, the activation of which could result in the region’s economic boom,” he noted.
The president also expressed Iran’s support for the activities of the ECO, saying, “Tehran attaches special significance to the regional cooperation within the framework of the ECO and supports such activities.”
Noziri, for his part, gave a report of the ECO’s plans to hold a summit meeting in Turkmenistan.
Ashgabat will host the 15th ECO summit on November 28.
