Azmoun, Sayyadmanesh Nominated for AFC International Player of Week

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sardar Azmoun and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh were nominated for the AFC International Player of the Week.

The year may be drawing to a close, but Asia’s cohort of players abroad shows little sign of slowing down, delivering another week of excellent performances on the other side of the globe.

It was a seven-day period that produced standout displays in both the men’s and women’s UEFA Champions Leagues, plus brilliance in league action in England, France, Germany and more.

Who is Asia’s best performer outside the continent based on performances from December 7 to 13?

Sardar Azmoun (Zenit, Iran)
80 minutes, 1 goal, 3 shots on target (3-3 v Chelsea)

Fans throughout Asia and Europe are well aware of Azmoun’s talents, and the Iranian star provided a fresh reminder with a goal against defending champion Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Team Melli frontman expertly rounded Kepa Arrizabalaga before slotting home his 10th of the season in a match that ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh (Zorya Luhansk, Iran)
90 minutes, 71% pass accuracy, 4 interceptions (1-1 v Bodø/Glimt)
90 minutes, 1 goal, 1 shot assist (1-1 v Dynamo Kyiv)

An AFC International Player of the Week regular this season, emerging Iranian forward Sayyadmanesh once again showed his composure in front of goal, finding the net with a terrific strike away to high flying Dynamo Kyiv on Sunday.

It was Sayyadmanesh’s ninth goal of the season, and his 15th since joining Zorya on loan from Fenerbahce last year.
