Locals Prevent US Convoy From Entering Their Village in Northeastern Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A US military convoy has been forced to retreat from an area in northeastern corner of Syria after they were prevented from passing through a village near the Al-Hasakah region.

Residents of Al-Khuwaylid village located to the northeast of the Al-Hasakah province, in cooperation with the Syrian Army who are controlling essential checkpoints in the region have prevented a convoy of military vehicles belonging to the US occupation forces from passing through their village.

Citing Syrian residents in the region, SANA news agency, reported on Thursday afternoon that the people of the village gathered at the entrance of the village and stopped a US convoy of 3 armored vehicles and forced them to turn around.

Syrian al-Jazeera region has repeatedly witnesses locals’ stopping military convoys of US occupation and making them to change course.

The US military has stationed forces and equipment in eastern and northeastern Syria, with the Pentagon claiming that the deployment is aimed at preventing the oilfields in the area from falling into the hands of Daesh terrorists.

Damascus, however, says the unlawful deployment is meant to plunder the country’s resources.

Former US president Donald Trump admitted on several occasions that American forces were in Syria for its oil.

After failing to oust the Syrian government with the help of its proxies and direct involvement in the conflict, the US government has now stepped up its economic war on the Arab country.
