Women, Children among 33 Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Jabalia Refugee Camp
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 33 people, including women and children, were killed after Israeli forces bombed a refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to local authorities.
The Government Media Office confirmed on Friday that 33 individuals died in the Israeli attack on the Jabalia refugee camp, with 21 of the victims being women.
The Palestinian news agency reported that over 70 people were injured in the assault.
Dr. Mohamad Salha stated that most of the wounded were women and children, currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. However, many remain trapped under the rubble.
He added that the hospital's operating theater is overwhelmed, as several injuries, including burns and abdominal wounds, require complex medical procedures.
According to Salha, Israeli forces issued evacuation orders to the hospital staff, but medical teams have chosen to stay to care for those in critical need in northern Gaza.
On the same day, the Gaza health ministry reported that Israeli strikes killed at least 39 Palestinians across the enclave, including 20 more in Jabalia.
Residents of the camp said Israeli tanks advanced into the area, reaching its central sections after moving through nearby suburbs and residential zones.
The escalation follows the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, a prominent Hamas leader, in an Israeli airstrike on Thursday in Rafah city. Hamas confirmed his martyrdom on Friday.
Israel launched its genocidal offensive on Gaza on October 7, 2023. Since the start of the war, over 42,520 Palestinians, primarily women and children, have been killed, with more than 99,500 others injured, according to Palestinian health officials.
