Iran Edges Uzbekistan in CAFA U-18 Women’s C’ship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran edged past Uzbekistan 1-0 in its opening match of the CAFA U-18 Women’s Championship on Friday.

Negin Zandi Dareh Gharibi scored Iran’s goal in the 35th minute.

Uzbekistan was reduced to nine players in the second half.

Sevinch Kuchkorova was sent off in the 65th minute and Leyla Rustullaeva was shown her second yellow card in the 79th minute.

The competition serves as preparation for the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup.

Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic will compete for the first place in the round-robin event in Dushanbe.

All six matches will be held at Central Republican Stadium, where the action will conclude on Tuesday.

The Central Asian Football Association is an association of the football playing nations in Central Asia. In June 2014, the association was in principle approved by the Asian Football Confederation and approved at the Extraordinary Congress in January 2015 during the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
