Iran Eager to Broaden Ties with S. Africa: President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Voicing Iran’s willingness to promote cooperation with South Africa, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi expressed hope that his trip to the African country would help expand the relations between the two nations.
In a Wednesday message to his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, the Iranian president congratulated the African country on its national day, known as the Freedom Day.
Raisi also expressed hope that under Ramaphosa’s leadership, the South African government and nation would move towards social and economic development.
Hoping for closer cooperation and relations between Iran and South Africa, Raisi said, “Considering that you have invited me to pay an official visit to South Africa, I hope the trip would prepare the ground for the promotion of relations between the two countries.”
Freedom Day is a public holiday in South Africa celebrated on April 27. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first post-apartheid elections held on that day back in 1994.
