Iran Ready to Finalize Several Deals with Belgium

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran expressed Tehran’s readiness to conclude a number of trade and investment cooperation agreements with Belgium.

Hossein Amirabdollahian, who is in New York to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, held talks with his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib on the sidelines of the event on Friday evening.

In the gathering, Amirabdollahian voiced Iran’s readiness to finalize a number of basic cooperation documents with Belgium, including the maritime transportation agreement, double taxation avoidance agreement, and document on supporting mutual investment.

The senior Iranian diplomat further deplored Western governments’ double standards and selective approaches to human rights.

Elsewhere in the meeting, the two foreign ministers talked about ways for judicial and consular cooperation between Iran and Belgium, stressing the need for consular services to support the nationals of the two states in accordance with international agreements and conventional documents.
