Iranian FM Congratulates New Kuwaiti Foreign Minister on Appointment

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister congratulated the appointment of Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al Sabah as the new foreign minister of Kuwait.

Hossein Amirabdollahian in a message expressed hope that relations between the two countries of Iran and Kuwait would further enhance in political, economic, cultural, scientific, and artistic areas as well as in regional and international fields with the active role of the two countries’ foreign ministries.

Kuwait's crown prince swore in the new government on Monday, following a reshuffle aimed at addressing lawmakers’ objections to the original cabinet line-up and ending a prolonged political feud.

Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah has, since taking over most of the ruling emir's duties, been trying to resolve a standoff between the appointed government and the elected parliament that has hindered fiscal reforms.

New foreign minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah al-Sabah had previously served as Kuwait’s ambassador to the United States and Korea and in the country’s delegation to the United Nations.
