China Beats Iran to Qualify for 2023 FIBA World Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – China defeated Iran 81-72 on Friday to book its place at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
In the match, held in Tehran’s Azadi Hall, the much-anticipated powerhouse clash between the teams lived up to the hype with the visitors holding off a comeback attempt to win.
The victory also clinches China’s spot at the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 from the Asian Qualifiers, making it the third team to do so after Lebanon and New Zealand in Window 4.
Behnam Yakhchali of Iran put up a team-high 24 points on top of 6 rebounds and 1 block, while China’s Zhelin Wang fired 23 points.
