Mehdi Taj Remains AFC Vice President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran football federation Mehdi Taj remained vice president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

In the elections held in Manama, Bahrain, Asia’s football chief and FIFA’s second-in-command Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa won a new four-year term on Wednesday.

The Bahraini, who took over at the head of the Asian confederation in 2013 when he was elected to complete the remaining two years of deposed former president Mohammed bin Hammam's reign, stood unopposed and was elected by acclamation.

Taj also remained as vice president of the AFC in the Central Zone.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended the AFC Congress.
