Al Faisaly Has Good Chance to Beat Foolad, Coach Says
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Al Faisaly head coach Marino Ouzounidis believes his team will be ready for the challenge and has a good chance to achieve a win against Foolad.
Al Faisaly is scheduled to meet Foolad on Monday in Doha’s Al Thumama Stadium in the AFC Champions League 2022 (West) Round of 16.
“It is a strange situation for us. Last year we deserved to qualify (for the Round of 16) but much has changed since then. What we have is one game ahead of us so we have to give it our best,” said Ouzounidis.
“I have told the players there is no stress. I want them to enjoy the game and I believe we will see a very good match.”
Al Faisaly’s bid for a speedy return to the Saudi Pro League is a work in progress, with the team currently fifth in the First Division but Ouzounidis said he wasn’t worried about his players being more concerned about their push for promotion.
“The motivation is very simple for this game. One good game, one very good opportunity for the players to show that we deserve to play at the highest levels.
“We haven’t played Foolad before and just like us, they will be highly motivated. I know how driven Iranian players and teams are but if we play our best, I think we have a good chance of achieving something against Foolad.”
