Iran Mocks Puppetry of UK-Based Hostile TV’s Relocation to US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry described the Iran International TV channel’s decision to relocate its studio operations from the UK to the US as a puppetry that reveals collaboration among the intelligence services of several countries.

In an interview with Tasnim on Tuesday, Nasser Kanaani described the Iran International TV channel’s move to shift its operations from London to Washington, D.C., as a “puppetry and new theatrical measure” that reveals that the intelligence services of several countries are sharing responsibilities.

“The developments surrounding the (Iran) International terrorist quasi-media indicate that the channel is being supported and managed by the intelligence services of a number of certain countries, including the UK,” the spokesman said.

Kanaani said the function and performance of the quasi-media outlet prove its role as an “operational and training arm” employed to provoke and fuel riots, insecurity and anti-security activities inside Iran.

The quasi-media has been listed as a terrorist entity on the basis of hard evidence and after the hostile TV channel provided a stage for the well-known elements of the terrorist and separatist groups, he stated.

“From our viewpoint, even if the channel is relocated from London to the US, the responsibility will still lie with the governments sponsoring and hosting such quasi-media, particularly the UK government, in relation to its (the channel’s) terrorist, separatist and anti-Iranian activities,” Kanaani added.

The spokesman said the Iran International channel’s role in fueling riots in Iran in the past recent months amount to definite criminal acts that make the channel, its host, and its overt and covert sponsors accountable legally, judicially and internationally, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to sue them.

He advised the US government to be mindful of all legal and international responsibilities for hosting a violent and terrorist quasi-media. “Undoubtedly, the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves all rights to future prosecutions and will take the necessary measures.”

Funded by Saudi Arabia, the Iran International TV channel was founded in London in 2017 as part of a propaganda campaign against the Iranian government.

The television channel has been openly promoting monarchists, the highly-notorious Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) terror group, and most significantly, separatist terrorists, in violation of the UK’s own media regulations.

Recently, the Islamic Republic designated the channel as a terror organization over its role in fanning the flames of violence during riots in Iran.
