IPL: Esteghlal Battles Back to Beat Gol Gohar
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team staged an inspired comeback to beat Gol Gohar 2-1 in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Monday.
In the match, held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Armin Sohrabian scored for Gol Gohar in the 24th minute.
Esteghlal put the visiting team under pressure but its players lacked the cutting edge.
Reza Mirzaei equalized the match in the injury time and shortly afterward Kevin Yamga scored the winner from the penalty spot.
In another match held in Bandar Anzali, Malavan drew 1-1 with Aluminum and Mes Kerman suffered a late 1-1 draw against Foolad.
Nassaji also battled back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with struggling Naft Masjed Soleyman.
Sepahan leads the table with 46 points, followed by Persepolis (45) and Esteghlal (43).
