Iran, Russia Ink Transit, Trade Cooperation Document

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation signed a cooperation agreement in the fields of trade and transit.

Accordingly, a trilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked between Iran Transport Development Fund, Eurasian Transport Coordination Council and Business Center for Economic Development of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) in the Russian capital of Moscow on Friday.

The MoU was inked in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Dmitry Zorov, Head of Iran Transport Development Fund Davood Danesh Ja’fari, the General Director of the Business Center for Economic Development of CIS Vadim Ganin, and the Secretary-General of International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation Gennady Bessonov.

Under the provisions of the MoU, the signatory parties vowed to strengthen their cooperation for promoting transit, trade and storing goods en route the international corridors especially North-South Corridor.

The Head of Iran Transport Development Fund Danesh Ja’afari, who has travelled to Moscow, met and held talks the Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Dmitry Zorov.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized on continuation of cooperation between Iran and Russia in the transport field.

While announcing the readiness of the Fund to provide financial resources for the transport projects, Danesh Ja’fari called on the strong participation of private sector and Russian banks in implementation of different projects in the transport field.
