Iranian President’s Syria Visit Signifies Resistance’s Political Victory: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian described the Iranian president’s upcoming visit to Syria as an indicator of victory for the resistance front’s political will.

In a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday night, Amirabdollahian said he will be accompanying President Ebrahim Raisi in the trip to Damascus.

Apart from the significant political, security and economic aspects, the presidential visit reflects the victory of the resistance front’s political determination and the Iranian administration’s successful diplomacy in completing the process of regional convergence, he added.

The foreign minister also paid tribute to late Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and all other martyrs who bestowed security on Iran and the region.

Heading a political and economic delegation, Raisi will depart Tehran for Damascus on Wednesday to become the first Iranian president to visit Syria after 13 years.

The administration’s spokesman said on Tuesday that the presidential visit to Syria will revolve around economic affairs, adding that Iran is prepared to provide Syria with its technical and engineering capabilities in the reconstruction process in the same way that it assisted the Arab country in the fight against terrorism.
