Iran’s Exports to Algeria Up 109% in Three Months: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran exported more than $1.1 million worth of non-oil products to Algeria in the first three months of the current Iranian calendar (March 21 to June 22), showing a 109 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

Vice President of the Iran and Africa Merchants Club Seyed Rouhollah Latifi made the remarks on Saturday concurrent with the visit of the Algerian foreign minister to Iran and stated that Algeria has had a very constructive role in Iran’s contemporary history.

Given the special situation of this country in North Africa, cultural-religious commonalities and fighting against colonialism, Iran expects more regarding the economic interactions with Algeria, Latifi emphasized.

He said that in the three-month period, Iran exported $1.134 million worth of non-oil commodities to the North African country, registering a 109 percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period.

He put the non-oil products exported from Iran to Algeria in 2002 at more than $14.847 million, indicating the highest volume of products exported to this African country over 14 years ago.

Regarding Iran’s trade with Africa from March 21 to June 22, 2023, Latifi said that 327,000 tons of non-oil products, valued at $122.751 million, were exported from Iran to 36 African countries.

In this period, 13,861 tons of non-oil products, valued at $17.263 million, were imported into Iran from 17 African countries, the vice president of the Iran-African Merchants Club added.
