Spokesman Puts Iran-Pakistan Trade Last Year at $2.3 Billion

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan hit $2.3 billion in the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2023), the spokesman for the Trade Promotion Commission of the Iranian House of Industry, Mine and Trade said.

Over 4,285,000 tons of non-oil products, valued at $2.330 billion, were exchanged between Iran and Pakistan from March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023, registering a 30 and 48 percent growth in weight and value respectively, Seyed Rouhollah Latifi said. 

Turning to the non-oil trade between Iran and Pakistan, he added, “Of the total $2.330 billion value of trade exchanges between the two countries, Iran exported more than 3,538,000 tons of goods, valued at over $1.488 billion, to Pakistan.”

This is while Iran imported 746,700 tons of non-oil goods, valued at $841.818 million, from Pakistan in 2022, he noted.

Latifi went on to say that Iran’s export of non-oil products to Pakistan last year showed a 20 and 18 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period a year earlier. 

Also, Iran’s import of products from Pakistan recorded a 119 and 170 percent growth in weight and value respectively compared to the previous year’s corresponding period, he continued.

He further referred to the trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan in the first quarter of the current year (March 21 to June 22, 2023) and said that 968,000 tons of non-oil goods, valued at $438 million), were exported from Iran to Pakistan in the first three months of the current year, showing a 57 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

The spokesman added that oil derivatives, liquefied gas, petrochemicals, different types of industrial lubricants and motor oil, fresh fruits and vegetables, construction materials, steel products, etc. were among the main products exported from Iran to Pakistan in this period.
