Rail Transit of Passengers, Goods between Iran, Iraq, Syria Discussed in Damascus
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraqi Minister of Transport Razzaq Al-Saadawi, in a meeting with Syrian officials in Damascus on Sunday, reviewed rail transit of passengers and goods between Iran, Iraq and Syria.
In a meeting with the prime minister and foreign and transport ministers of Syria in Damascus, al-Saadawi said that land transportation and transit of goods and passengers are of paramount importance.
In an interview with Lebanon-based Al-Ahed correspondent later, Al-Saadawi pointed to the significance of the geographical situation of Iraq and Syria and noted that the issue of rail and transit connection and also the development of roads were discussed in his meeting with the Syrian officials.
Syrian Minister of Transport Zouhair Khazim also told Al-Ahed News that the issue of rail connection will be taken into consideration by Syria, Iraq and Iran.
Also, projects related to the transportation of goods will be investigated in cooperation with the Persian Gulf littoral states including Iran, he added.
