Iran, Syria Discuss Agricultural Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian and Syrian officials engaged in discussions centered around cooperation in the field of agriculture, establishment of investments, and the sharing of expertise.

The talks occurred during a meeting on Wednesday between Syria's Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qatana, and the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Hossein Akbari, along with their respective delegations.

According to SANA news agency, Minister Qatana provided an overview of proposed projects under the Investment Law within his ministry, highlighting the accompanying facilitations. He emphasized the significance of collaboration in agricultural scientific research, expertise exchange, and the utilization of applied research outcomes in both countries. He also emphasized the ongoing preparations for an agricultural research conference.

Ambassador Akbari, in response, stressed the imperative to enhance bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations, particularly in the realms of investment, expertise exchange, and information sharing. He underscored the importance of sustained communication between research centers in Syria and Iran, as well as the effective utilization of all available resources to serve the interests of both populations.

Akbari noted that Iran has embarked on cross-border agricultural initiatives, including projects in Africa, Iraq, and Latin America, and expressed Iran's intention to invest in Syria to further agricultural advancements.
