Masoumi Bags Iran’s Fourth Gold at 2023 U-20 World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Amir Reza Masoumi claimed a gold medal at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships 2023 on Wednesday.

The Iranian freestyler defeated Said Akhmatov from Russia 11-0 in the final match of 125kg.

It was Iran’s fourth gold medal in the competition as Mohammad Reza Shakeri in 65kg, Abolfazl Babaloo in 97kg and Mohammad Mobin Azimi in 92kg had previously won three gold medals.

The 2023 U-20 World Wrestling Championships started in Amman, Jordan on August 14 and will run until August 20.

The event was originally scheduled to be held in Warsaw, Poland from August 14-20. Due to Poland's refusal to issue visas to Russian and Belarusian wrestlers, United World Wrestling moved the tournament from Poland to Jordan.
