Sepahan Downs Havadar to Move Top: IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sepahan defeated Havadar 5-0 to move top of the 2024-25 Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday.
In the match, held in Isfahan’s Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium, Mohammad Mehdi Mohebbi was on target for Sepahan in the 18th minute and Mehdi Limouchi doubled the advantage in the 26th minute. Reza Asadi was on target from the penalty spot just before the hour mark to make the scoreboard 3-0. Limouchi completed his hat-trick, scoring in the 79th and 90th minutes.
Tractor and Nassaji shared the spoil in a 1-1 draw in Ghaemshahr’s Shahid Vatani Stadium. Amir Mohammad Hooshmand scored for Nassaji in the 19th minute and Mehdi Torabi equalized the match in the 73rd minute.
In Tehran’s Shohada-ye Shahr-e Qods Stadium, Persepolis defeated Kheybar 2-1. Aref Rostami gave the visiting team the lead in the 22nd minute but Persepolis forwards Ali Alipour and Isa Alekasir scored twice in the 53rd and 84th minutes, respectively.
Mes was defeated against Zob Ahan 2-1 in Rafsanjan, Malavan was held to a 1-1 draw by Aluminum and Shams Azar lost to Gol Gohar 1-0.
Sepahan moved top of the table with 31 points. Tractor and Persepolis are second and third with 29 and 26 points, respectively.
