Belarus FM Meets Iranian Counterpart in Johannesburg

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interests.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed a number of issues related to the bilateral agenda, including the progress made in the implementation of the cooperation roadmap that was signed by the two heads of state, BelTA the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. 

During a meeting with Belarusian President Lukashenko in Tehran back in March, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said the two countries have reached a comprehensive roadmap agreement that can determine the bilateral relations in the future with a strategic outlook that exists between the two sides.

Expressing his satisfaction with his visit to Iran, Alexander Lukashenko stated that memoranda of understanding were inked between Iran and Belarus and once these MoUs are implemented, the two countries can achieve their goals in the development of bilateral ties.
