Iran Earns First Win at 2023 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran edged past the Philippines 3-2 (22–25, 25–22, 25–21, 24–26, 15–12) in the 2023 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday.

Iran will play Hong Kong in Pool H on Monday.

Team Melli Banovan had lost to Japan 3-0 and India in Pool B.

Running from August 30 to September 6, the championship features 14 teams divided into four groups. Each team faces every other team in their group once, with the top two teams from each preliminary round group advancing to the top eight classification round, forming two new groups of four.

The competition is being held in in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
