Amiri, Moghanlou among Ones to Watch: ACL 2023-24
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis winger Vahid Amiri and Sepahan forward Shahriyar Moghanlou are among the Ones to Watch as the AFC Champions League 2023-24 gets underway on Monday.
One of the most experienced players at Persepolis, the versatile left-footed Amiri is entering his seventh season in the club that he led to reaching the AFC Champions League final in 2020. He has made 47 appearances in the competition, contributing to 10 goals. Amiri has also represented his nation at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.
Also, Moghanlou, 28, enjoys a clinical record in the AFC Champions League; in just 11 appearances in the competition, he already has seven goals and one assist to his name, despite never playing in the knockout stages. Moghanlou made his debut in the competition in 2021 in Persepolis colors, before returning in 2022 with his current club Sepahan.
Abdelhamid Sabiri (Al Fayha), Kodjo Laba (Al Ain), Akram Afif (Al Sadd), Miralem Pjanic (Sharjah), Karim Benzema (Al Ittihad), Neymar (Al Hilal), Philippe Coutinho (Al Duhail) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) are the other players to watch in the west region.
