Iran’s Amouzad Seizes Silver in Wrestling: 2022 Asian Games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Rahman Amouzad won a silver medal in the 2022 Asian Games 0n Friday.

Amouzad defeated Abbos Rakhmonov from Uzbekistan 12-6 in qualification round and also emerged victorious over Kaiki Yamaguchi (2-1) in Round of 16. Amouzad beat China’s WEI Baowen Wei 6-0 in quarterfinal. The Iranian wrestler advanced to the final after defeating Indian’s Bajrang 8-1.

Amouzad lost to Mongolia’s Tulga Tumur-Ochir 11-1 in the final of men’s 65kg and claimed a silver.

A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories compete across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
