Iran Attracts $8.7 Billion Foreign Investment in Current Administration: Economy Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of economic affairs and finance said that over $8.7 billion of foreign investment within the framework of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has been attracted since the current administration assumed office in August 2021.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance in the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi has taken giant strides in attracting foreign investment, Seyed Ehsan Khandouzi said.
The president has called on all ministries to play a leading role in attracting foreign investment, he noted.
Khandouzi also pointed out that his ministry in cooperation with the Organization for Investment Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI), which is tasked with advancing and helping foreign investment, has managed to attract more than $8.7 billion of foreign investment since August 2021 up to the end of the Iranian month of Shahrivar (September 22).
This figure is unprecedented as the country is facing the toughest ever sanctions imposed by Western countries, especially the United States, Khandouzi added.
He further said that his ministry will make its utmost efforts to activate the Iran-Iraq and the Iran-China joint economic commissions.
