Talks Ongoing between Iran, Armenia for Facilitating Transit in INSTC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Negotiations are underway between Iran and Armenia on the construction operation of the 2nd Bridge at Nordooz Border Terminal and holding a tripartite meeting between Iran, Georgia and Armenia in the fields of transport and transit.
Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, in a meeting with Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan in Yerevan on Monday, emphasized participation of Iranian companies in the field of construction of housing and said, “(W have) proposed removing entry and exit tariffs between the two sides in order to facilitate and increase transit.”
Iran is ready to host a tripartite meeting between Iran, Georgia and Armenia in order to facilitate transit in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), Bazrpash added.
Iran welcomes the proposal of constructing the 2nd bridge on the Aras River at Nordooz Border aimed at increasing transit between Iran and Armenia, IRan's roads minister underlined.
Bazrpash then pointed to the historical background of Armenia and the significance of the restoration of peace and stressed that transit and facilitation of transit in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is of paramount importance for the two countries.
Presently, giant projects in the fields of road, tunnel and railway are being carried out by competent Iranian companies, he said, adding that the firms are ready to help Armenia in completing construction projects in the country.
Sanosyan, for his part, said that his country is ready to take advantage of the high capability of Iranian companies for the completion of the construction operation of the INSTC.
He also welcomed the organizing of a tripartite meeting between Iran, Georgia and Armenia.
