Iran Exports Pomegranates to 21 Countries
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran exported more than 21,000 tons of pomegranates valued at over $8 million to 21 countries in 2022, showing a 20 and 12 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to a year earlier.
Over 21,285 tons of fresh pomegranates, valued at $8,553,516, were exported from Iran to 21 countries, according to a report.
Pakistan imported 8,066 tons of fresh Iranian pomegranates, valued at over $3 million, in 2022, becoming Iran’s first export target market, followed by Iraq, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, South Korea, Russia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Belarus respectively.
In the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 22, 2023), 347 tons of fresh pomegranates, valued at $154,911, were exported from Iran to neighboring Iraq, Pakistan, Kuwait, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
