Iraqi PM Pays State Visit to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani arrived in Iran on Monday for an official visit.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi received the Iraqi prime minister in an official welcome ceremony on Monday morning.

The two top officials are going to hold talks and attend a joint press conference to comment on the course of relations between Tehran and Baghdad and the latest regional developments.

In April, President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid paid a visit to Tehran. In a high-profile meeting during the presidential visit, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned the Baghdad government that the US is by no means a friend of Iraq.

Ayatollah Khamenei had also emphasized that the progress, prosperity, independence, and advancement of Iraq is very important for the Islamic Republic of Iran and that the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of agreements are in the interest of both countries.
