Israeli Forces Arrest Prominent Palestinian Activist in West Bank Raids

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Around 50 Palestinians, including prominent activist Ahed Tamimi, were arrested by Israeli forces during overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Club.

Tamimi, a Palestinian activist and an Authority adviser, was one of those arrested during the overnight raids. The Israeli army claimed her arrest was on charges of "inciting terrorism." A regime army spokesperson informed AFP news agency that she has been transferred to Israeli security forces for further questioning.

Tamimi gained international recognition in 2012 when a video of her confronting an Israeli soldier in defense of her brother went viral. Her actions demonstrated her unwavering courage in the face of occupation. In 2017, she was arrested after another video captured her slapping and hitting two Israeli soldiers outside her house in the village of Nabi Saleh.

As dawn broke, it was reported that the Israeli military had pulled out and suspended raids in the occupied West Bank. However, the previous night had witnessed extensive military operations across multiple cities in the region.

Open clashes occurred between the Israeli army and Palestinian resistance fighters, with reports of roads and cars being destroyed, particularly in Tubas. The Shu’fat refugee camp, home to several Palestinian resistance groups, was also subjected to one of the largest military raids. During these raids, the adviser to the Palestinian Authority (PA) government was arrested, and Fatah member Rafat Alian was apprehended during a live interview.

Despite not being under Hamas’ control, Israel has raided dozens of homes in the occupied territory, arresting and killing several civilians.

The Zionist regime's army claims that those arrested are suspected of links to Hamas or of inciting violence.

Daily settler attacks have also more than doubled since October 7, according to UN figures.

A spike in tensions and violence has claimed the lives of more than 150 Palestinians in the West Bank since then, most killed by Israeli soldiers or by settlers according to the Palestinian health ministry.
