Iran’s Men’s Taekwondo Wins 2023 World Cup Team Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Defending champion Iran’s men’s taekwondo team won the title of the 2023 World Cup Team Championships, held in Goyang, Seoul, South Korea on Wednesday.

Team Melli’s Mirhashem Hosseini, Amir Mohammad Bakhshi and Abolfazl Abbasi defeated the tournament’s dark horse Australia 2-0 in the final match.

Iran had previously defeated South Korea 2-1 and Brazil 2-0.

At the 2023 World Cup, female, male and mixed-gender teams are fighting over three days from November 14-16.

Australia, Iran, Brazil, China, Côte d'Ivoire, Korea, Mexico and Morocco are all fielding teams.

Iran won $20,000 in prize money as the winner and silver medalist Australia and third-place Brazil earned $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
