Iran Crowned Champion of 2023 IBSA Goalball Asia/Pacific
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated South Korea 9-3 on Saturday to win the 2023 IBSA Goalball Asia/Pacific Championships.
Team Melli had previously secured victories against Kazakhstan (10-0), Mongolia (11-1), South Korea (9-6), and Pakistan (10-0) and Thailand (8-3).
Iran also booked its berth in the 2024 Paralympic Games as the competition’s winner.
China finished third, beating Thailand in the third-place match.
Iran had won a bronze medal in the 2022 Asian Para Games in October.
Host China had already qualified for the Paralympics as the 2022 IBSA Goalball World Championships silver medalist.
