Iran, Azerbaijan Call for Stronger Regional Mechanisms
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan stressed the need to strengthen regional cooperation and mechanisms to pave the way for peace without any foreign interference.
In a telephone conversation on Saturday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov discussed a range of regional and international issues.
The top Azeri diplomat emphasized the necessity to strengthen regional dialogue and mechanisms without any interference from the extra-regional countries.
For his part, Amirabdollahian agreed about the need to intensify the regional mechanisms in order to ensure peace and improve regional unity.
“Naturally, the more we activate the regional cooperation formats, the more the regional parties will benefit from them,” the Iranian minister added.
Hailing the growing relations between Tehran and Baku, the two senior diplomats also called for closer cooperation in the regional and international arenas.
