Yemeni Forces Target Container Ship Headed for Occupied Palestine in Support of Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Yemen's Armed Forces conducted a targeted operation against the Maersk Gibraltar container ship en route to occupied Palestine, citing solidarity with Gaza amid Israel’s genocidal war on the besieged enclave.
The spokesperson for Yemen's Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced on Thursday that the operation against the Maersk Gibraltar, emphasizing it as direct support for Palestinians in Gaza amid a genocidal Israeli war.
Saree highlighted that the naval forces, in alignment with their mission, executed a drone strike on the Maersk Gibraltar after the vessel, despite warnings, persisted in its course toward the “Israeli entity”.
The operation, Saree emphasized, signifies a continuous pledge to intercept any vessel traversing Yemen's territorial waters en route to occupied Palestine until Gaza's siege is lifted.
"The Yemeni armed forces confirm that they continue to prevent all ships heading to Israeli ports from navigating in the Arab and Red Seas until they bring in the food and medicine that our steadfast brothers in the Gaza Strip need," Saree said.
Gaza, enduring the ramifications of conflict since October 7, faces severe consequences, with the Health Ministry reporting a staggering toll of nearly 19,000 casualties, predominantly affecting women and children.
Describing the drone strike as a triumph for the oppressed Palestinians, the Yemeni official underscored the action as a response to the dire circumstances in Gaza and a resonating call from the Yemeni populace.
Additionally, Saree highlighted the success of Yemeni forces in thwarting the passage of multiple ships bound for the occupied Palestine over the past days.
