Iran Victorious over Burkina Faso: Friendly
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in a friendly match held on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf on Friday.
The two teams’ players observed a minute’s silence before the kick-off for the victims of a recent terrorist attack in the southern Iranian city of Kerman.
Mohamed Konate scored for Burkina Faso in the 12th minute at the Olympic Stadium but Mehdi Taremi leveled the score in the 42nd minute.
Omid Ebrahimi scored the winner in the 70th minute to seal a 2-1 win for Amir Ghalenoei’s team ahead of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Team Melli has been drawn in Group C with the UAE, Palestine and Hong Kong.
Iran will meet Palestine on January 14 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar in its opener.
