Private Sectors Urged to Play Key Role in Realizing $30 bln Trade between Iran, Turkey
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chairman of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) said that Iranian and Turkish private sectors should make their utmost efforts in realizing the goal of achieving the $30 billion annual trade between the two countries.
Addressing a group of Iranian and Turkish businesspersons on Wednesday, Samad Hassanzadeh called on the private sectors of the two countries to play a leading role in realizing the objective.
He made the remarks during a visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Turkey to participate in the 8th meeting of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation.
He pointed to the deep cultural, religious and historical relations between Iran and Turkey that date back to long ago and noted that the two countries have managed to bolster bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in the trade and economic fields.
He added that the current volume of trade between the two countries is not acceptable and should grow, IRNA reported.
The high-ranking officials of the two countries are seriously determined to strengthen mutual ties based on firm and reliable principles, Hassanzadeh emphasized.
Turning to the target of $30 billion worth of annual trade between Iran and Turkey in the coming years, he called on the private sectors of the two countries to make their utmost efforts in realizing the economic objectives of the two countries.
With the implementation of the important economic agreements inked between the two sides during the visit of the Iranian president to Turkey, the two countries will witness a considerable jump in the development of trade cooperation, the chairman of ICCIMA stressed.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hazzanzadeh referred to the key role of chambers of commerce of the two countries in the development of the economic relations and noted that Iran and Turkey can work together in various fields including energy, mines, industrial and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, knowledge-based activities, etc.
The 8th meeting of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Cooperation was held in Ankara on Wednesday in the presence of the Iranian president and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
