Iranian Contractors Welcome in Sri Lanka: Foreign Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Ali Sabry invited Iranian industrial and economic enterprises to undertake projects in his country.
In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart in Colombo on Tuesday, Sabry said Sri Lanka and Iran have close relations and share common values.
Highlighting Sri Lanka’s movement towards economic prosperity, he said the South Asian country is prepared to let Iranian companies carry out various economic projects considering their industrial and economic capabilities.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hailed the constant consultations between the two states over regional and international issues, expressing hope for the expansion of political, economic, trade, and scientific cooperation with Sri Lanka.
He also praised the stances Sri Lanka has adopted in international organizations, such as the UN, in support of the Palestinian people and Gaza.
The two top diplomats also weighed plans to encourage tourists to visit the two countries, stressing the need to launch direct flights between Iran and Sri Lanka.
