Iran to Produce 1.8 mln Tons of Aquatics in Five Years: Deputy Agriculture Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s deputy minister of agriculture said that it is predicted that 1.8 million tons of aquatic products will be produced during the country’s 7th Five-Year Development Plan.

Hossein Hosseini said the production of 1.8 million tons of aquatic products has been predicted during the 7th National Development Plan with more focus on aquaculture than fishing, IRNA reported.  

The head of the Iran Fisheries Organization added that according to the Food Security Document in 2032 Vision, it is planned that 2.6 million tons of aquatics will be produced in the country until then. 

He also said that the macro policies of sea-based development have been communicated at the Sea-Oriented development Headquarters.

The country enjoys a high potential for the production of aquatic plants as well, the deputy minister of agriculture emphasized.
