Tehran, Hanoi to Ink PTA for Boosting Bilateral Trade: TPOI Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) will be inked between Iran and Vietnam to spur mutual trade and economic activities.
Mehdi Zeyghami made the remarks in a meeting with Vietnam’s minister of foreign affairs, saying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi places special emphasis on expanding trade-economic ties with East Asian states, including Vietnam.
The TPOI chief went on to say that Vietnam is among Iran’s most important trade partners and expressed hope that negotiations with Vietnamese officials will bring about good results.
According to him, Iran’s commercial attachés are based in Vietnam and make their utmost efforts to advance the bilateral ties.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the deputy industry minister pointed to the significance of the Iran EXPO 2024 and invited Vietnamese officials in the public and private sectors and entrepreneurs to participate in the exhibition, which is slated to be held in May, ISNA reported.
Turning to the expansion of trade with this Southeast Asian country in the field of halal products, Zeyghami said that the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) is the official decision-making body in the country in the field of halal industry, and Iran is ready to share its experiences with the Vietnamese side.
In addition, Iran is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of manufacturing medical equipment and enhance cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, he added.
