Iran’s Export of Agricultural Products Up 13% in 10 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s export of the agricultural products in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023) registered a 13% growth compared to the same period last year, the agriculture minister said.

Speaking in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Mohammad Ali Nikbakht expounded a comprehensive report on the rise in the export of agricultural products in the current year and noted that eight million tons of agricultural products, valued at $6 billion, were exported from the country between March 21, 2023, and January 22, 2024.

It shows a 13 and a 23 percent growth in weight and value respectively, the minister added.

Iran used to be an importer of aquatic feed but with the drastic measures taken in the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi, the country has become an exporter of aquatic feed, he further said, ISNA reported. 

He said the export of fisheries and aquatic feed registered a 67 percent hike in the 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year compared to last year’s corresponding period.

Iran’s export of vegetables, different types of fruits, byproducts and dairy products increased 41, 35 and 23 percent respectively from March 21, 2023 to January 22, 2024 compared to the same period last year, the agriculture minister added.
