Hezbollah Strikes Israeli Targets near Southern Lebanon Border
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hezbollah fighters targeted Israeli espionage equipment and a military outpost near the border with southern Lebanon in response to Israel's atrocities in the Gaza Strip.
Lebanon's al-Manar TV reported that the fighters attacked the al-Asi military base on Sunday, destroying spying equipment.
Earlier on Sunday, Hezbollah struck a gathering of Israeli soldiers near al-Wazzani, causing injuries.
In retaliation, Israeli airstrikes and artillery targeted several southern Lebanese border areas, including Marwahin, Aita al-Shaab, and Aitaroun.
An Israeli drone also fired a missile at Aita al-Shaab, with no immediate details on casualties.
The strike on Aitaroun destroyed a house that had caught fire, according to Lebanon's National News Agency.
Israeli artillery units targeted an area between Aitaroun and Maroun al-Ras, and fired shells on the Marjeyoun plain to intimidate local farmers and shepherds.
Israel has been attacking southern Lebanon since October 7, following its campaign in Gaza. In response, Hezbollah has launched near-daily rocket attacks on Israeli positions.
At least 322 people have been killed on the Lebanese border, most of them Hezbollah fighters but also 56 civilians.
The fighting at the border has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of settlers from the northern part of the occupied territories.
Hezbollah had successfully defended Lebanon against Israeli wars in 2000 and 2006, forcing Israel to retreat in both wars.
