Iran’s Pharmaceutical Industry Grows by over 11% in One Year: FDA Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced an 11% growth in the pharmaceutical industry of the country in the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024).
The country’s pharmaceutical industry registered more than 11 percent in the previous year (ended March 19, 2024) compared to a year earlier, Heidar Mohammadi said.
The FDA chief pointed out that the export of medicines doubled in the previous year compared to a year before.
The activists of the pharmaceutical industry of the country believe that the industry has the potential to grow further once the related equipment and machinery of the industry are renovated, he added.
The head of Iran's Food and Drug Administration had earlier highlighted a threefold increase in the export of Iranian pharmaceuticals in recent years.
Iran is among the top five countries in the world in producing biopharmaceuticals, he said, noting that many countries are surprised by Iran's advances in the field of biotechnology.
