Iran Exports over 186,000 Tons of Aquatics in 11-Month Period
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration showed that over 186,000 tons of different types of the aquatics and fishery products were exported from the country in the 11 months of the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 to February 22, 2024).
In the reported period, over 186,000 tons of aquatics and fishery products, valued at more than $337.7 million, were exported from the country, registering a 15.3 and a 6.5 percent up in volume and value respectively compared to the same period a year earlier, the director general of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture for Aquatics Development, Processing and Quality Improvement Office stated.
In this period, 66,000 tons of various species of sea fish, valued at $118.5 million, 48,000 tons of aquatic feeds, valued at $40.5 million, more than 26,000 tons of shrimp, valued at $89.4 million, and over 12,000 tons of trout, valued at $32.3 million, were exported from the country, accounted for Iran’s maximum export share in this sector, Abbas Mokhtari noted.
The country exported about $70 million, $67 million and $63.5 million of aquatics and fishery products to the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and China respectively in the 11 months of the previous Iranian calendar year, he stated, Mehr news agency reported.
Mokhtari said more than 22,000 tons of aquatics, valued at $72.2 million, were imported into the country from March 21, 2023, to February 22, 2024, showing a 94 and a 93.3 percent growth in volume and value respectively compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.
