Israeli Strikes Claim Lives across Gaza, Including Journalist’s Family
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Dozens were killed in Gaza as Israeli jets and artillery pounded Gaza City, with casualties reported from north to south in Rafah, according to the Palestinian state news agency Wafa.
Among the victims is local journalist Bahaa Okasha, along with his wife and son, who died in an Israeli strike on their home in Jabalia refugee camp.
At least 10 people were killed, including children, in an Israeli bombardment of a house belonging to the al-Khatib family in central Gaza’s az-Zawayda town, Wafa reports.
Israeli warplanes and artillery have targeted central and eastern areas of southern Rafah city, with reports of an encirclement by Israel’s military as fears grow of a ground operation.
Casualties were also reported in Gaza City in the north, including at the home of the Siam family in the old town areas.
Al Jazeera Arabic reported three deaths and multiple injuries in Gaza City’s Sabra and Zeitoun neighborhoods.
In central Gaza, staff at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir el-Balah warn of a potential shutdown within 24 hours due to fuel shortages caused by the closure of crossings since Israel's assault on Rafah began.
In Deir el-Balah, streets are filled with evacuees living in makeshift tents and open areas, with families still searching for shelter after being displaced from Rafah. Al-Aqsa Hospital, the main operating hospital, is under increasing pressure to provide medical care to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the densely populated area.
The deteriorating situation includes recent explosions in the Nuseirat refugee camp, further escalating the security and humanitarian crisis. Palestinians express frustration with the lack of international support, with borders closed and aid suspended into Gaza.
