Iran, Azerbaijan Stress Implementing Agreement on Qiz Qalasi Dam Project

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior officials from Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan emphasized the need to implement the agreement reached between the presidents of the two countries on the Qiz Qalasi dam project.

The co-chairmen of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission Mehrdad Bazrpash and Shahin Mustafayev discussed bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest in a meeting.

The Azeri side expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his entourage in a tragic helicopter crash in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan.

Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Bazrpash thanked the presence of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku to sign the memorial book and participation of the Azeri delegation in the funeral of martyred President Raisi in Tehran.

During the meeting, the two sides reemphasized implementing the agreements reached between the presidents of the two countries on the Qiz Qalasi dam project, ISNA reported.

A helicopter carrying President Raisi and his entourage crashed in northwestern mountainous forests on May 19.

The crash killed President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, Governor of East Azarbaijan Malek Rahmati, the commander of the president’s security team, two pilots and a flight crew.
