Iran Held by Uzbekistan in 2026 World Cup Qualifier
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran football team was held to a goalless draw against Uzbekistan in the Preliminary Joint Qualification – Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 campaign Tuesday night.
Team Melli topped Group E with 14 points over Uzbekistan thanks to a superior goal difference.
The match at Azadi Stadium saw a closely fought contest as they repeated their stalemate from the reverse fixture in Tashkent which finished 2-2.
Turkmenistan and Hong Kong also ended their match in a goalless stalemate.
