Iran into FIBA U-18 Women's Asia Cup Division B Semis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Samoa 76-73 at FIBA U-18 Women's Asia Cup Division B on Wednesday to book a place in the semifinals.

Iran has gone through the group stage undefeated after an epic encounter against the Pacific might of Samoa with Mahsa Karani leading the way on the floor at Futian Sports Park, Shenzhen.

Mahsa Karani was an absolute standout, and competed in overtime the same way she competed throughout the entire game to finish with a whooping 26 points, 7 blocks and 6 rebounds.

“It was a really tough game, but a really good game for us and to beat them in overtime was a good result for us. It was a really good game for our body conditioning and training, we just listened to our coach and did what she asked,” Karani said.

The Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, the Maldives, Samoa, and Syria are the teams competing in the event for a chance to secure promotion to Division A.
