UN Assured of Iran’s Aid in Ensuring Regional Peace

Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri held a meeting with Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya on the sidelines of a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Thursday.

Denouncing the massacre of innocent people in Gaza by the Zionist regime as a clear example of genocide of Palestinians and their forced displacement, Baqeri emphasized the need for the international community to pay attention to these crimes and take immediate action to prevent their continuation.

He also stated that the continuation of the current situation is intolerable and that the attacks by the Zionist regime and the attempts to displace the people of Gaza must stop immediately.

The Iranian diplomat stressed the urgent necessity of delivering adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza, saying, "The attacks by the Zionist regime on the people of Gaza are vengeful, and there is no chance of victory for this regime in the war. It only increases the costs for the US government, which is the biggest supporter of this regime and responsible for the continuation of this genocide and humanitarian disaster."

He then called for strong and immediate action by the UN to fully lift the blockade of the Rafah border crossing and send humanitarian aid into Gaza.

"The United Nations can rely on the capacity of the Islamic Republic of Iran to achieve peace and security in the region,” Baqeri added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

For her part, Msuya elaborated on the UN’s efforts regarding the humanitarian issues and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

She emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to stop the war and end the current worrying conditions.

Msuya finally appreciated the constructive role of Iran in the humanitarian issues and stressed the importance of continuing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in this regard.
