Israel's Airstrikes on Yemen's Hudaydah Port Could Be War Crimes: HRW

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Human Rights Watch has condemned Israel's July airstrikes on Hudaydah, Yemen, as potential war crimes, citing indiscriminate attacks on civilians.

According to HRW, the strikes, which appeared to be indiscriminate or disproportionate, targeted civilians and caused significant harm.

Israel confirmed that on July 20, its warplanes hit Yemeni military targets near Hudaydah.

The attack focused on oil facilities and a power station, resulting in the deaths of at least six people and injuring more than 80, HRW reported.

The strikes followed a Yemeni drone assault on Tel Aviv the previous day, which killed one Israeli settler.

The Israeli retaliatory strikes damaged over two dozen oil storage tanks, two shipping cranes, and a power plant in as-Salif district, according to the rights group.

HRW emphasized that the attacks caused disproportionate harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure.

"Serious violations of the laws of war committed willfully, that is deliberately or recklessly, are war crimes," the organization said.
